Volition And SAPICS Join Forces To Advance The Supply Chain Profession

13 July 2010 - A shared commitment to advancing the supply chain profession forms the basis of the long-standing partnership between SAPICS, the Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa, and Volition Consulting Services, says director David Long. In addition to its sponsorship of the upcoming SAPICS Conference for supply chain and operations professionals, Volition is also sponsoring a student initiative that will enable aspiring supply chain professionals to attend the event.

Volition has been associated with the SAPICS Conference for seven years, and Long says the company is proud to be joining forces with the association once more, as a sponsor of the 2010 conference. The SAPICS Conference, which takes place with the participation of the Supply Chain Council, is widely regarding as Africa's leading event for supply chain and operations professionals. It takes place at Sun City later this month (from July 25 to 27 2010).

Elaborating on Volition's decision to renew its sponsorship, Long says: "Volition boasts a culture that represents a healthy balance between extensive business knowledge and a youthful inquisitiveness to pursue opportunities that enable us to create a sustainable future. Our innovative solutions, complemented by our passion and can-do attitude, form the foundation of our success. Since SAPICS has a great focus on the education and advancement of supply chain and operations professionals, the partnership seems a natural one.

"SAPICS provides the opportunity of exposure to world class education in the supply chain and operations sector and also provides the opportunity for Volition to showcase our services and expertise," he adds. "Volition is committed to the education of our people, and SAPICS provides us with an unrivalled opportunity to fulfil this commitment, as well as the opportunity to educate outside of our company." This underlines Volition’s recent achievement in winning the "Operations Management Education Programme of the Year", at the annual Supply Chain Education Excellence Awards, for its in-house supply chain training.

The 2010 SAPICS Conference and Exhibition follows hot on the heels of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The timing is significant, with the organisers promising a programme packed with supply chain skills and best practices, aimed at helping individuals and organisations to maintain the success, prosperity and excitement generated by this event. Long concurs, noting: "The 2010 World Cup has breathed life into South Africa as a whole and specifically the supply chain community. The excitement and energy of the World Cup will continue to inspire and motivate for a long time to come. This is an awesome opportunity for companies to invest in the development of their internal resources. I think the timing of the conference is of great significance since companies have gotten a taste of the global market out there and are now ready to work at improving what they have."
